Nuur Taibah & Tamer Khalil at World Expo, 2025
“Sharing a part of my culture, my music, with Japan and the world was a phenomenal experience that will live with me forever.”
- Tamer Khalil
At World Expo 2025, the Saudi Pavilion presented a programme of collaborative live performances exploring the intersection of music, art, and contemporary Saudi culture. Produced by DDX in partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture, the programme brought together leading Saudi creatives, including music producer and VJ Nuur Taibah and composer Tamer Khalil, to deliver immersive, performance-led experiences for an international audience.
Central to the programme were live sessions staged within the Pavilion’s music studio, where visitors were invited to witness the creative process unfold in real time. Audiences observed Taibah and Khalil as they developed, experimented, and performed together, transforming the studio into an open, collaborative space where new audio-visual works were created on the spot.
The residency, titled Infinity and Continuity, resulted in a live audio-visual performance built on an electronic soundbed influenced by technology and gaming culture, layered with Saudi cultural sound. Animated, hand-drawn, Saudi-inspired visuals were created and manipulated live, then projection-mapped to the studio walls, enveloping the space in a fully immersive environment.
