Move Afrika

Move Afrika in Kigali was more than a live event — it was a long-term investment in building a sustainable production ecosystem. Partnering with Global Citizen, Done+Dusted joined as a key production partner and HOD supplier to help bring a world-class live experience to BK Arena, while actively developing local production capability in the region. With a clear vision to empower and upskill the local industry, this project was designed not just to deliver a show, but to leave a lasting legacy.

Working closely with Rwanda Events, our role extended beyond traditional production. Across a three-year scope, we focused on knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and infrastructure growth, ensuring that each year, more of the production could be executed locally. By this year’s event on March 17, the evolution was tangible. Local crews took on significantly more of the build and delivery, utilizing regional kit and resources with increased confidence and independence. The result was a production that felt both globally competitive and locally owned.

The show itself, featuring a headline performance from Doja Cat, sold out the 8,000 capacity BK Arena, marking another milestone for live entertainment in the region. Behind the scenes, the team navigated key challenges around local equipment availability, working in close collaboration with artist teams and department heads to adapt designs in real time. The approach prioritized flexibility — modifying creatively where possible and supplementing with external resources only when absolutely necessary.

What made Move Afrika truly stand out was the strength of partnership. The collaboration between Global Citizen, Done+Dusted, and Rwanda Events created a model for how international production expertise can integrate with and elevate local teams. Through smart problem-solving, shared learning, and a commitment to long-term impact, this project didn’t just deliver a successful show — it helped drive Global Citizen's vision to achieve a sustainable world-class touring circuit on the African continent.
