Katy Mullan is having a busy week. She and Raj Kapoor are producing the 98th Academy Awards: “Now is the crunch time where all of this planning suddenly goes into action,” she says on this week’s episode of Little Gold Men.
The 2026 Oscars will welcome back host Conan O’Brien and also include historic firsts, including this year’s theme: a human touch. As Mullan explains, it’s about focusing on the personal, creative nature of film in a world increasingly impacted by technology and AI. The show will also present a brand-new casting award—the Academy’s first new category in 24 years—which will get a unique presentation during the show.
