Hideo Kojima Premieres Death Stranding 2: On The Beach With Star-Studded Gameplay Showcase in LA

Hideo Kojima brought fans back to his post-apocalyptic universe with an unforgettable world premiere event for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, hosted live at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles as part of Summer Game Fest 2025.

The immersive evening featured live gameplay demos, exclusive story cut scenes, and surprise appearances from cast members Troy Baker, Shioli Kutsuna, and Woodkid, who also composed the game’s dynamic score. With Death Stranding 2 set for global release on June 26, this cinematic unveiling offered a first glimpse at Kojima’s evolved vision — shaped by the global pandemic and a yearning for real-world connection.

Kojima debuted two scenes: one featuring Elle Fanning and Kutsuna's characters, and another action-packed sequence showcasing Fanning’s shape-shifting abilities in battle. In a standout live demo, audiences followed Sam Porter Bridges (played by Norman Reedus) across an evolving map affected by real-time natural disasters, underscored by Woodkid’s reactive musical compositions that change with every move the player makes.

With cutting-edge storytelling, a genre-defying score, and boundary-pushing gameplay, the premiere proved Death Stranding 2 will be more than a sequel — it’s an event in its own right.
