The Wrap: Melanie Fletcher Talks Scale, Agility, and the Future of Live Event Storytelling

Done+Dusted's North America CEO Melanie Fletcher recently sat down with TheWrap for its "Office With a View" series, sharing insights into the scale, creativity, and strategic agility needed to bring world-class live events to life.

From comedy specials and music broadcasts to esports championships and globally televised awards shows, Fletcher has been at the helm of productions that define moments in pop culture. Speaking candidly, she noted the challenge of building events that deliver across both in-person and digital platforms. "It’s hard to conceive and stage and produce an event that’s also a livestream of any scale for under a million dollars," Fletcher shared. "But the smaller events are no easier. You still have to apply all the same energy and love into it."

Under her leadership, Done+Dusted has delivered some of the industry’s most high-profile moments. The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, with 1.2 billion social engagements and 22 million live viewers, remains a benchmark in live television. In gaming, the 2024 League of Legends World Finals became the most viewed esports event in history, peaking at 7 million concurrent viewers.

As platforms expand and creative opportunities evolve, Fletcher emphasized the importance of remaining open and adaptable. "If you don’t love learning, then this isn’t the industry for you. Every day I learn something big and important and new that I need to then apply going forward. And that’s what excites me and gets me out of bed, actually."
