Play On: Celebrating the Power of Music to Make Change NATIONWIDE 2020
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many iconic live music venues to go dark. Play On: Celebrating the Power of Music to Make Change broke the silence, rocking these spaces back to life and broadcasting powerful, intimate performances directly to viewers from the comfort of their couch. The benefit concert also created awareness for transformational racial, social and food justice, raising funds for two long-standing and vital philanthropic organizations, the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF) and WhyHunger, collected through the Play On fund at SixDegrees.org, founded by Kevin Bacon.
Hosted by Kevin Bacon and Eve, the show featured performances from Bruce Springsteen, LL COOL J featuring DJ Z-Trip, Ringo Starr, Sara Bareilles, Emily King, Pedrito Martinez, Maren Morris, Bon Jovi, Sheryl Crow, John Legend, Jon Batiste, Ziggy Marley, Andra Day, Gary Clark Jr and many more. The performances also celebrated three iconic host venues: the Troubadour in Los Angeles, the Apollo Theater in New York City, and the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville.
